Terms
The plain version of the deal: what Hustle is, what it isn’t, and what we ask of you.
Last updated 21 October 2026
The short version
These terms are the agreement between you and Hustle (“we”, “us”). By creating an account or using Hustle, you agree to them. Please read them with the Privacy page.
- Hustle is free while it’s in early access. A paid plan may come later, and we’ll tell you at least 30 days before anything changes.
- Every pay figure is an estimate, not advice. Your payslip has the real numbers.
- AI can get things wrong, so check what it gives you.
- Your data stays yours, and you can delete your account at any time.
- Nothing here takes away your rights under UK consumer law.
Who can use Hustle
You must be 18 or over. Hustle is made for people working in the UK (England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland): its pay, tax and National Insurance estimates follow UK rules. It’s for your own shifts and pay, not for running other people’s.
Keep your sign-in, your unlock password and your recovery codes safe: you’re responsible for what happens in your account. Tell us straight away if you think someone else has got into it.
What Hustle does, and doesn’t
Hustle puts every job’s shifts in one calendar, estimates your pay, pay dates, tax and National Insurance, helps you plan when you’re free to work, reads a rota from screenshots or pasted text with AI, answers questions about your shifts and pay with AI (Chat), and lets you note down money balances to plan with.
It isn’t your employer’s payroll and can’t see your real payslips. It doesn’t connect to your bank or move money, and it doesn’t send anything to your employers.
Connecting Google Calendar is optional and covered by Google’s terms too. Hustle updates the “Hustle shifts” calendar from your device while Hustle is open, so it can be behind until you next open it; check your shifts in Hustle before you rely on the calendar.
Pay estimates, not advice
Hustle estimates pay, tax and National Insurance from the shifts and settings you give it. The estimates cover the 2026/27 tax year, jobs paid weekly or monthly, and National Insurance category A. Pensions, student loans, salary sacrifice, a different or changing tax code, other income, benefits, or anything your employer does differently will change the real number. Hustle won’t show an estimate it can’t work out, but an estimate can still be wrong.
Hustle is not financial, tax or legal advice, and isn’t a payslip. Check important figures against your payslip, and with your employer or HMRC. Don’t rely on Hustle alone for decisions about money.
AI features
Chat and rota import use AI from OpenAI, which can misread a rota or get an answer wrong.
- Check every import. Shifts read from a rota are shown to you first; nothing is saved until you check them and press Import.
- Check Chat answers before acting on them, especially about money.
- Don’t send what you don’t need to. Remove private details, like an address or phone number, from rota screenshots first.
- Your own OpenAI key. If you add one, Hustle uses it first for your Chat and Import requests. OpenAI bills you for that use under your own OpenAI account and terms. You can remove the key in Settings at any time.
- Connected apps. Connecting ChatGPT or Claude is optional. It can read your timetable only, never your pay or money, and your use of it is covered by its provider’s terms. Plans it makes from your timetable are its own suggestions; check them.
Free AI and fair use
Without your own key you can use free AI, which needs a confirmed email address and comes with limits: 40 Chat questions and 10 rota imports a month for each person (counted per email inbox), a short-term limit on requests sent at once, and a daily limit shared by everyone, so it can run out for the day.
We may change these limits, or pause or stop free AI, while Hustle is in early access. Please don’t try to get around them, for example with extra accounts or email addresses.
Acceptable use
Please don’t:
- try to get into anyone else’s account or data;
- attack, overload, scan or try to break Hustle or its servers;
- get around its security or limits;
- misuse the AI features: send harmful or illegal content, or try to make the AI ignore its instructions;
- upload other people’s personal details beyond what you need (a rota with colleagues’ names is fine for reading your own shifts);
- use Hustle for anything unlawful.
You may not copy, scrape, reverse engineer, decompile, or use automated tools to access or extract any part of Hustle, its content or its data, or use Hustle to build a competing product, except where the law expressly allows it.
If you find a security problem, please tell us at contact@hustlepay.co.uk rather than testing it on live accounts.
Your content
Your jobs, shifts, notes, money records and anything you type or upload stay yours. You let us store and process them only to run Hustle for you, including sending the parts Chat and rota import need to OpenAI, as the Privacy page explains. That permission ends when you delete the content or your account. Hustle itself (its design, code, name and logo) belongs to us; you may use it for your own personal use under these terms.
Data lock
Data lock locks your shifts, jobs, pay settings and money with a key only you hold. If you lose every way to unlock it (Face ID or fingerprint, your unlock password and every recovery code), your locked data can’t be recovered by anyone, including us. Start fresh deletes it, and your account stays.
What we can still read while it’s on is on the Privacy page.
Early access
Hustle is still being built, so features will change, and sometimes things will break or be unavailable. We fix what we can as fast as we can, but we can’t promise Hustle will always be available or free of errors. We may change, pause or stop Hustle or any feature. If we plan to close Hustle, we’ll tell you at least 30 days before, so you can ask for a copy of your data. With Data lock on, a copy from us can only include what we can read, so turn Data lock off first if you want a full copy.
Price
Hustle is free for now; a paid plan is planned for later. We won’t charge you anything without telling you first and asking you to agree. We’ll give you at least 30 days’ notice of any paid plan or price change, in the app and on this page, and you can stop using Hustle or delete your account instead.
Stopping, suspension and deletion
You can stop at any time. To remove everything, including your login, use Delete my account in Settings › App & data. What stays for a short time afterwards is listed on the Privacy page.
We may limit, suspend or close an account that breaks these terms or misuses Hustle or free AI, or where the law requires it. Where it’s fair and safe to, we’ll tell you why first and give you a chance to put things right.
Our responsibility to you
Nothing in these terms limits our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else the law doesn’t let us limit, including your rights as a consumer.
Apart from that: Hustle is for personal use, so we aren’t responsible for business losses such as lost income or opportunities; for losses from relying on an estimate, an AI answer or an imported shift you didn’t check, when these terms told you their limits; for losses we couldn’t reasonably have foreseen or caused by things outside our reasonable control; or for charges on your own OpenAI account.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Hustle changes. If a change matters, we’ll update the date at the top and tell you in the app before it applies. If you don’t agree with a change, you can stop using Hustle and delete your account.
Law and courts
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and its courts can deal with any dispute. If you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your own country’s courts.
